NBS BANK AWARDS SEVEN CHANCELLOR COLLEGE STUDENTS
NBS Bank Limited marketing officers on Friday invaded Chancellor College (Chanco) campus, a constituent college of the University of Malawi, where they promoted NBS's Bank@Campus—the first in the country—through various activities that saw over 100 students opening new accounts at a minimum balance of K500.
During their marketing blitz, NBS Bank held a raffle draw which saw five students winning K5,000 each that was deposited in their newly-opened bank accounts. Two other students won NBS Bank branded Executive Wallet each.
The K5,000 winners were Vincent Kavala, William Sumani, Ellina Kita, Anganile Mwenefumbo and Patience while Madalitso Kausi and Precious Gausi won consolation prizes of NBS Bank Executive Wallet each.
In his remarks, NBS Bank Zomba Branch manager Franco Banda—under whose jurisdiction the Chanco Bank ©Campus falls—said his bank will later provide the students who just opened their accounts with EazyBank auto-teller machine (ATM) cards for free.
NBS marketing officer Lilian Kawaza said in an interview the bank organised the raffle draw as part of maintaining the three-year old relationship which has existed between it and the students since the bank established its agency at the college in 2005.
"It has been our dream to make banking easier for the students in trying to keep them from labouring to walk long distances to the bank in town considering their tight study schedules," said Kawaza adding: "NBS Bank depends on the same students to further promote the bank after doing well in education and become future company executives who will still do business with us."
She said the prizes given to the students at the raffle draw were also a way of thanking them for choosing to bank with NBS Bank.
Kawaza said similar competitions will be held at the Polytechnic in Blantyre, Bunda College in Lilongwe and Mzuzu University, among other tertiary institutions in the country.
