Panjwani wins Mug

Salim Panjwani scored nett 70 to win August's NBS Bank Monthly Mug at Country Club Limbe on Saturday to join the race for the end of the year Winner of Winners title.
His runner-up for the December race was Kevin Coombes on nett 71 while M. Hanjahanja scored nett 72 but he had to count out five contestants —M.Y. Patel, S. Amin, John Gift Mwakhwawa, T.W. Nhq and B. Davy — who all also posted nett 72.
NBS Bank's Business Development Manager Mayamiko Kalizang'oma applauded the golfers for their continued participation that is making the event more colourful and interesting.
"There was another golf tournament elsewhere but you chose to support us and we don't take that for granted," he said
"Congratulations to the winners and for the losers there are still four more months to go for you to get a place in the Winners of Winners title."
Winner of Winners defending champion is Shou-ng Huang and those already in contention are January champion Paul Chidale whose runner-up was Harold Lungu with Vajoo Morzaria coming third
February champion was Bryan Davy, who counted out Chidale while on third place was Charles Merrick.
Lester Tandwe has won the title twice — in March and June. His runner-up in March was Ralph Kamoto with Donbell Mandala coming Ihird while in June Omar Nazir was second with Mahesh Patel on third.
The monthly winners receive a marvellous silver mug as well as an additional expensive prize ofahouseware.

Chimdima wins August Mug

Chimdima Mhango scored nett 69 to win the August Monthly Mug at Country Club Limbe joining the race for the end of the year Winner of Winners title.
His runner-up with nett 71 was Furkan Gani while S.M. Patel was third with nett 72.
The NBS Bank Mugs culminate into a Winner of Winners tournament, whose defending champion is Shou-ng Huang.
January champion was Paul Chidale with Harold Lungu as runner-up and Vajoo Morzaria on third. February champion was Bryan Davy, who counted out January champion Chidale while on third place was Charles Merrick.

After watching others pick up their prizes for a long time, veteran Bernard Chizaka made sure the NBS Monthly Mug excitement never missed him when he scored nett 68 to win the April title.
His runner-up was teenager i Armin van der Walt, who scored nett 69 while Duncan Chidzankufa came third with nett 70. Another veteran John Magombo joined the fun as champion in May and his runner-up was Yusuf .
Raidhan on nett 71 who counted out Neemon Zita on the same score to come third. Last year's monthly Mug winners were Chidale for January, February champion was Shabir Patel, March was Chidale again, May was M. Raidhan, June was Victor Mhango, July was I. Mussa, August was V. Wright, September was W. Chiume, November was Attle Nkhonjera while the December Mug was James Katunga. NBS Marketing Officer Lillian Kawaza said they were proud to be associated with golf at Country Club Limbe because of the enthusiasm the golfers give it.

Lester wins the Mug again

He took 69 nets, and that was all Lester Tandwe needed to claim the ultimate prize in the lucrative NBS Bank Monthly Mug Golf Championship held at the weekend at the Limbe Country Club (LCC).
The competition, which attracted 93 golfers and played on medal format attracted golfers from both the A Division and B Division.
The 42-year-old Tandwe, who is currently playing as a non-regular, won the title on gross 69 nets beating other regulars like Mahesh Patel and Tony Nathvan who came third and second, respectively, to claim the trophy and a coffee maker, all courtesy of NBS Bank.
"I thank the sponsors, NBS Bank, for giving us such a wonderful tournament. This is one of the most precious prizes of my golfing career," said the 17-handkapped golfer after receiving his prize.
The runners-up, Patel who came third and Nathvan on second got a bag and high tech logik hot-plate respectively.
Other consolotion prizes went to two clubers-Ralph Kamoto and Madalitso Matabwa—who walked away with K3.000 each.
Captain for the day Vaju Morzaria described the daylong tourney as a big success, saying although the greens were running fast the players managed to show their skills and came up with their best perfomances.
"It has been an exciting day and we are happy that NBS continues to commit itself with the monthly mug tournament," said Morzaria.
Speaking during the prize presentation, NBS head of personal and retail banking Stanley Mkwamba, thanked the golfers for participating in the tournament. He also saluted the CCL committee for putting in place all the logistics for the tournament to take place.
"We will continue sponsoring this tournament and as I have said before, if you want to stay in the fair way you must tee-off with the right bank," said Mkwamba.

Chizaka wins the April Mug

AFTER watching others pick up their prizes for a long time, Bernard Chizaka made sure the NBS Bank Monthly Mug excitement never missed him when he scored nett 68 to win the April event at Country Club Limbe.
It was such a wonderful feeling for the veteran* who is also the club's green keeper and he is always acknowledged for keeping the course in excellent condition.
Chizaka is also a meticulous planner for the club's golf tournaments and is always in the thic of things to start off golfers before picking up his bag to join the golfers on the fairways.
His runner-up was teenager Armin van der Walt, who scored nett 69 while Duncan Chidzankufa came third with nett 70.

NBS Bank has a new slogan, "Relax - we are here to help" and Masautso told the golfers: "Relax, we want to stay on your fairway. So tee off with the right bank which is NBS."

The March Mug

Lester Tandwe joined the list of winners of this year's NBS Bank Monthly Mug when he won the March event at Country Club Limbe (CCL) on Saturday.
He scored nett 69 and his runner-up with net 70 was Ralph Kamoto while Hardson Mandala posted nett 71 to come third.
February champion was Bryan Davy, who counted out January champion Paul Chidale.
The third place was taken by Charles Merrick.
Runner-up in the January event was Harold Lungu while Vajoo Morzaria came third.
These are now in contention for end of the year Winner of Winners.
CCL golf captain Sjoerd Grueter applauded NBS for their tradition with the club that started six years ago.
"NBS Bank is a staunch supporter of Country Club Limbe," he said. "We really appreciate the support because we are all enjoying our game."
He also thanked the golfers for their good "tremendous turn up in support of the faithful sponsors.
"NBS's Marketing Executive Lillian said they were impressed with the enthusiasm the golfers give t the mugs, saying they do not take that support for granted.
"With NBS Bank, you are never a loser and we appreciate that you all enjoy your game," she said. "We are looking forward to another day of fun in the next mug." She also thanked the captain for the smooth operation of the tournament, saying that also contributed to the success of the event.
