NBS Bank woos tobacco farmers to open accounts - 28/01/2010
With the growing season in progress, NBS Bank has introduced a promotion called Tobacco Farmers Account Opening which started on 25 January and will end on March 30 this year.
To enter the promotion, farmers are required to open an Easy-Save account and they will instantly receive an NBS Bank-branded T-shirt and 2010 calendar. Then each farmer will be entered in a weekly draw where they will stand a chance to win K20 000 cash, cell phones, branded caps and T-shirts.
NBS Bank head of retail banking Stanley Mkwamba said the promotion is aimed at encouraging farmers to open accounts with the bank because of the convenience the bank offers. "NBS Bank pays tobacco sales proceeds to the farmers faster and closer to home because of our countrywide presence," said Mkwamba, explaining that NBS Bank has 38 points of representation and mobile vans which service Ntaja in Machinga, Ntcheu, Mloza in Mulanje, Mponela in Dowa, Ntchisi and Salima.
