NBS Bank in employee industrial training - 19/07/2010

To equip employees with skills and knowledge of industrial relations, NBS Bank Limited organised a three-day industrial relations workshop for 36 of its employees from various branches across the country. NBS Bank head of human resources and administration Richard Kanjawa said the bank believes in employee empowerment since they are partners as far as industrial relations are concerned. "Due to its commitment to sound labour relations practices, NBS Bank has not experienced any business disruptions originating from poor relations since its inception in 2004. We will, therefore, continue on this path to ensure that our employees are trained and have knowledge of labour relations," he said.

One of the trainees, Elias Sham Mbewe, said the training was among the most important initiatives the bank has ever put forward for its employees because they have learnt a lot. The workshop was organised in Collaboration with the Ministry of Labour who facilitated the workshop and tackled issues such as workers' and employers' rights and obligations.
