NBS Bank has said its support to businessconnect is aimed at growing together with the Small and Medium Entrepreneurs (SMEs). Businessconnect is an initiative that aims at providing a networking platform for the SMEs and was initiated in October 2009.
NBS showed its commitment in supporting the SMEs sector by contributing K2 million to Business Consult Africa (BCA) towards this year's businessconnect budget. The bank's Head of Retail Banking Stanley Mkwamba said as a bank they are committed to see SMEs develop in the country. Today's SMEs are tomorrows corporate and as NBS we want to grow with them and reach greater heights," Mkwamba said.
He said through financial and technical support, SMEs presents an average opportunity to achieve the country's export base. "The contribution to businessconnect will help the SMEs with their unique needs especially trainings and financial assistance," he said.
BCA Managing Director Henry Kachaje said the contribution will enable the group to conduct coffee mornings and regional meetings for this year. He said currently the SMEs sector is receiving a boost as more financial institutions are opening up. "NBS bank has been there for the SMEs and still is but as of late we have also seen more banks opening up to SMEs," said Kachaje.
The bank is one of the financial institutions that mostly deal with SMEs in the country. The busmessconnect is supported by various partners including NBS Bank.
